Week 3: ‘Happy Hour for Hope’ at Del Rey
Drinking to benefit the environment….we’re on board. Seattle Weekly was sponsoring the event at Del Rey, so we decided to suck up our aversion to Belltown and check it out. It’s possible that our main motivation for going was to satisfy Picasso: she’d been talking for days and days about meeting an environmentally-conscious, hairy-chested mountain man. Ummm…..so we get there, and I’m being perfectly serious when I say that the 6 men in the bar were either a) married, b) bartenders, or c) pastel-golf hat wearing, cuter-shoes-than-me boy. (I should note here that we’re currently imposing a No Bartender, Sexually Confused, Pot Head, or Out-of-State men policy).
There really isn’t anything to report about the bar itself. It was pretty empty, the ambiance was all right, and the drinks/food were fine. It’s one of those “enhh” places that I probably won’t go to again when there are so many opportunities for fantastic HHs out there.
But, let’s just say this: I love my friends. Despite the lack of prospects, I had a fantastic time because I was with some of my favorite people. The amazing thing is that I’m not at my sanest right now (looooong and boring story of get-over-it-already sort of heartbreak), but I left feeling lucky. The lesson is that it probably doesn’t matter where we go – if I’m with these ladies, it’s going to be a good time.
